Professional Basement Renovations Timeline

Every basement project is different, so it’s hard to give an exact timeline without understanding the scope of your project first. In general, you can expect it to take around 3-5 weeks for an average basement 700 square feet. Larger basements and more complicated renovation projects will take longer, while smaller basements and less complicated projects could take less time. We’re among the fastest working basement contractors in the area, so if you want to get your project done soon, give us a call!

Budget and Estimates for your Basement Renovation

After you’ve met with our designers and approved your 3D design rendering, we’ll give you a detailed price quote. Keep in mind when you hear our quote that you’ll get as much as 90 percent of your investment back when you go to sell your house. (This is one reason why basement renovations are so popular.) We’ll work with you to make sure your final quote is within your budget, and we take great care to ensure that what we quote you is what you pay.

Starting your Basement Renovation

After you approve our quote, we’ll set a start date that fits your schedule. You’ll need to get permits and possibly inspections before we start demolition, which we can help you with obtaining and scheduling. We want to make sure you end up with a legal basement, so we will do everything we can to help you through this important step. On average, expect it to take anywhere from 2–3 weeks to get permits.
We’ll deliver all the construction materials to your home on your start date and store them in a safe location (usually either your basement or garage). Before getting started, our site supervisor will walk through your basement with you and will use chalk to mark up your floor before framing begins.

Framing, drywall, and taping

During framing, we’ll rough-in electrical points and run wiring. We’ll also bring our plumbers in to run water lines and drains if your renovation includes a kitchen, kitchenette, or bathroom. Once framing is over, we’ll have our drywall crew install wall boards. They’ll tape and plaster the joints, corners, and bulk-heads to get drywall in place to get primed and painted.
Flooring, tiling, and additional features
We’ll install flooring and tile once the drywall and taping work is complete. At this point, we’ll also add additional features, like a staircase, fireplace, or feature wall.

Painting Your Basement

You have total control over what color(s) to use to paint your basement walls and ceilings. We’ll apply primer to your walls before we apply paint. Once the paint is totally dry, we’ll work on installing light fixtures and any other accents to complete the look and feel of your newly finished basement. And if you aren’t sure what color to choose, don’t worry. We’re experts at everything related to basement renovations, so we can help you choose the perfect color scheme for your project!

Kitchens, cabinetry, and fixtures

We’ll install your kitchen, kitchenette, bar, and other cabinetry before we apply the final coat of paint. We’ll also finish up with installing electrical and plumbing fixtures.

Final touches

Our site supervisor will take you on a final walkthrough to identify any places that need to be touched up or fixed before we call your project complete. Once the final touch ups are made, we’ll leave you alone to enjoy your beautiful new space!
